wow. awesome drawing! do u get the solicits for issues to work off of or do they just give u a specific image they wanna see?
Usually I like to work from the script, but for this particular GA cover, my editor told me to depict GA squaring off with Merlyn, another archer. In so many words. Having never heard of the character, I required reference. All this transpired via email.
very interesting. so most of ur covers (ie fables) are done by you finding a particularly important image from the script?
Hi James,
Fantastic!! Your work is great! I really admire your technical and tradition skills as a draftsman and painter. I also really like your sketchbooks from your site. Man, really nice stuff.
Oliver - yup, I typically like to highlight the most evocative moments in the script, and those all swirl and melt in my mind steamed milk in tea.
Shawn - great work on your blog!
Really love seeing the starts of your paintings! Always nicely designed!
thanks.
I like tea too.
How do you like to take it.
strong and black...
My favorite is lapsang souchong. There is nothing better for me on a cold winters night. Of course there are no more winter nights now that I'm in San Diego. hmmm...
How's it hangin' Jeansley? I will take a hot cocoa if you have some.
Some seek comfort in the arms of the strong and dark, others seek refuge from the cold, and M gets high on cocoa. I used to like to mix instant coffee with hot cocoa mix for a satisfying jolt.
i think i my girlfriend is going to try that while she preps for the GREs.
Cocoa mixed with coffee is wonderful. It's even better if it's flavoured with a little peppermint, or cinnamon...
you are such a poetic blogger J. :)
